Industry: food and hospitality

Content for food and hospitalityso people want a taste

Food sells through pictures: how something is made, how it looks and how people react to it. We film for food brands in our studio and for restaurants, cafes and bakeries on site, mainly in North Hesse.

Who this page is for

This page is for food and beverage producers and for hospitality businesses.

That includes food brands and food startups, beverage producers, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and patisseries, butchers, snack bars, delivery services and caterers, farm shops and direct marketers, and meal kit providers.

Typical goals

Food brands mostly want their product recognized and tried, on the shelf or in an online store. Restaurant owners want full tables.

For brands, that means UGC, videos in the style of real customers, with taste tests, recipe ideas or unboxing for ads and channels. For restaurants, cafes and bakeries, local reach is what counts: people in your area who notice you through a Reel and drop by. Reels are the short vertical videos on Instagram and Facebook. Many businesses also use the same channels to find kitchen and service staff.

Formats and services that fit

These formats work especially well in the food industry.

Preparation and recipe

Hands, ingredients, pan: short videos that show how a dish or recipe comes together with your product.

Taste test and reaction

A person tries the product and describes what they taste. This format works well for food brand ads.

Behind the scenes

The bakery early in the morning, the kitchen during service, the team plating up. This way guests get to know your business before they come.

Food and product photos

Photos of dishes, packaging and products in use for your menu, delivery platform, store and channels. Photo packages start at €129 net for 5 images.

Social media management

We take over content calendar, posts, Stories and replies to comments as your outsourced social media team, from €990 net per month.

Logo and website

For new businesses we design logo and website with menu, opening hours and directions. The one-pager costs €1,490 net.

Legal points to keep in mind

These points generally apply to advertising food and to hospitality. They are no legal advice.

  • The Health Claims Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006) allows nutrition and health claims only if they are authorised and their conditions are met. Statements like “strengthens the immune system” or “low in sugar” cannot be worded freely, not even by a creator in a video.
  • The authorised health claims are listed in a Union list (Regulation (EU) No 432/2012). For beverages containing more than 1.2 % alcohol by volume, health claims are not allowed under Art. 4(3) of the Health Claims Regulation.
  • Guests who can be recognized in the picture must consent to publication under § 22 KUG (German Art Copyright Act). Plan shoots outside opening hours or with your own performers.
  • Music playing in your venue cannot simply end up in the video. Advertising needs a suitable licence.
  • Advertising through a creator's account must be labelled as such, even when the payment is food or products.

Common mistakes

  • Taking photos of dishes on a phone in poor light because it has to be quick.
  • Showing only the finished food, although preparation and people get more attention.
  • Using health promises like “good for digestion” without an authorised claim.
  • Filming guests without asking them first.
  • Posting irregularly and starting over after three weeks of silence.
  • Listing different menus and opening hours on the website, Google and Instagram.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is social media worth it for a restaurant or cafe?

Usually yes, because many people check Instagram or Google before a visit to see what a place looks like and what it offers. Consistency matters, so it only pays off if someone looks after the channels continuously. You can do that yourself or hand it over to FNLY Social.

What can I say about the health benefits of my food?

Only authorised nutrition and health claims under the Health Claims Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006), and only if your product meets the conditions. Freely worded promises like “boosts your defences” are generally not allowed. If in doubt, have the statement checked by a lawyer.

Do you shoot at our restaurant?

FNLY Social shoots on site mainly in North Hesse. Whether a shoot in your region is possible, we clarify in the initial call.

Can guests appear in the video?

Only if they have consented under § 22 KUG. That is why we mostly shoot outside opening hours or cast guest scenes with our own performers.

Can you also take photos for delivery platforms?

Yes. With the Photo S package you get 5 product or food photos for €129 net, usable organically and in ads without time limit. We take each platform's format requirements into account when cropping.

We are a food brand. How does the product get to you?

You send the products to our studio in Borken and cover the shipping costs. For chilled goods we agree on delivery and shoot date in advance, so the products are fresh in front of the camera.

What does managing our channels cost?

The FNLY Social Basic package with 2 channels, 8 posts and 8 Stories per month costs €990 net. On top comes a one-off €490 for setup and strategy, waived with a 12-month term. The minimum term is 3 months.
